Physics Department
Evansville Cancer Center's Physics Department is an integral part of the health care team.
Our staff is comprised of two medical physicists, Dr. Saiyid Shah and Arnold Sorensen, both board certified by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Shah, who has worked in this field since 1976 and has worked with our radiation oncologists since 1984, has a Ph.D. He is also board certified by the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Therapy Physics.
Our dosimetrist, John O'Donoghue and Arnold Sorensen have worked as a team with our Radiation Oncologists since 1977. Our biomedical engineer is Mike Patterson.
Before a patient can begin their treatment, our Physics Department develops an individualized treatment plan for that patient. They also maintain the calibrations & quality assurance of all treatment machines to ensure accurate delivery of the radiation dose.
