Marketing Director Wins National & State Awards in 2005
Robin Lawrence, Director of Marketing for Evansville Cancer Center and melanoma cancer survivor, was selected by the American Academy of Dermatology to receive their annual Gold Triangle Award, the Environmental Protection Agency to receive their Shining Star Award, and by the Indiana State Medical Association to receive their Patient Health Care Advocate Award for 2005.

2005 Skin Cancer Screening Program Statistics
Evansville Cancer Center and area dermatologists Dr. Sharri Barrett & Dr. Jane Lim teamed together to offer free full body skin cancer screenings. Click here to view this year's results!

"The Race Against Prostate Cancer" with Richard & Kyle Petty
The Evansville Cancer Center and the Urologists in the Tri-State area presented the fourth annual prostate cancer awareness program "The Race Against Prostate Cancer" with Richard & Kyle Petty on Sunday, August 28th, 2005.

Richard and Kyle Petty talked about what has kept the Petty family at the pinnacle of racing for three generations with ‘What a Ride: Life, Family, Community and the Race Track’. They discussed the journey through Richard’s diagnosis and treatment for cancer and emphasized the importance of annual screenings!

Evansville Cancer Center's Nurse Practitioner Receives Special Certification
Tracy Hagan, RN, MSN, AOCNP has proved excellence in caring for cancer patients by passing the Advanced Oncology Certification Nurse Practitioner exam. An employee of Evansville Cancer Center for four years, she is one of only 48 nationally to achieve this status. Tracy received her masters in nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2001.
Dr. Rick Ballou Participates in Henderson Relay for Life
Dr. Rick Ballou is used to treating cancer at the Evansville Cancer Center but was diagnosed with renal cancer himself earlier this year. In June, he participated as a survivor in the American Cancer Center's 2005 Henderson Relay for Life.

Robin Lawrence-Broesch Speaks at National News Conference
Robin Lawrence-Broesch, Marketing Director for ECC and skin cancer survivor, was invited by the American Academy of Dermatology to speak at their 2005 Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month national news conference at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City.

May is Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection & Prevention Month
Throughout May, which is Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection & Prevention month, Evansville Cancer Center will be hosting FREE Skin Cancer Screenings in collaboration with area dermatologists and the American Academy of Dermatology:

  Wednesday, May 4th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Dr. Shari Barrett
  Friday, May 6th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Dr. Jane Lim
  Thursday, May 26th, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Dr. Mary Tisserand

About 95,880 new cases of melanoma are expected to occur this year and 7,910 people are expected to die of the disease. Since the 1930's, the incidence of melanoma has increased more than 2000 percent.
